Along with the production, the installation is what determines the quality of a piston ring or metallic seal. Too much force during installation can damage the piston ring or metallic seal without the part necessarily breaking. During installation the force can deform the piston ring or metallic seal, leading to a loss of its round shape once installed. This will decrease the efficiency of the piston ring or metallic seal.
The difficulty of installation is determined by the function, the operation of the ring (inside or outside tension) and the location where the piston ring or metallic seal is to be installed. We support our customers by providing tailor-made solutions. For example, we can supply piston ring compressor pliers in the desired size, but we also contribute to solutions if there are problems concerning the installation.
For some piston rings and metallic seals, the direction in which they are installed matters. This is the case with scraper rings, for example. This type of ring must be installed with one side facing upwards for optimal operation. That side of the ring is marked with the letters: TOP. Each piston ring and metallic seal is marked with a unique number for traceability, and this can also be done according to your specifications, of course.
